Party Statement

May 19, 2026

Recently, allegations regarding a candidate endorsed by the NCGP were brought to the attention of NCGP officers. The nature of the allegations raised issues which, if true, were inconsistent with the values of the Green Party.

The NCGP Coordinating Committee conducted a preliminary investigation following procedures intended to protect the confidentiality and rights of all concerned and consistent with state and federal laws.

After a brief discussion with the candidate that failed to resolve the concerns, the officers suggested the candidate withdraw in order to protect the interests of all parties involved. Therefore the state party will not submit the candidate to appear on the North Carolina ballot as a representative of the Green Party.

The state party acted in accordance with our internal procedures and with respect to the 10 Key Values of the Green Party, to which we are bound to adhere. NCGP officers made it clear to all concerned its intention that this matter remain private. The party is committed to upholding confidentiality to protect everyone involved.

In a separate and unrelated process evolving over several weeks, a second candidate also decided to leave the party and will not be submitted for the state ballot. This decision is based solely on reasoned discussion between the party and the candidate about the message and goals of Green campaigns.

We wish the candidates well in their future endeavors.

I was originally looking for the status of the green party in North Carolina because I had heard there’s been quite a bit of upheaval. Although the State board of elections has continued to recognize the green party to be able to recruit statewide candidates through 2028 Congressional candidates so aren’t statewide. So I’m confused whether that includes Congressional candidates and then the above information regarding the allegations against one of the candidates which I had heard through other sources. And then I saw an interview with him who described this problem in his case and saying that he is no longer with the green party and I was very very disappointed because I’m not in his district, but I was excited to learn when he was running and was a green party person. I helped get that Ralph Nader on the ballot many years ago in the late ‘90s when he was running under the green party and I know how difficult it is to get third party recognition much less active participants. I was concerned though when I saw on your menu about Deuce renewal parties don’t require dues, so I don’t know what that was all about. I have always been a green party person in my heart and principal because the platform going back to Europe from Germany was spot on with the right stuff to support Progressive democracy pursuits. I hate , probably not the best word- concern anyway that the NC green party has always had to struggle to be recognized and it was interesting to know that the State board of elections voted Republicans in favor and the Democrats not which is no surprise because the Democrats don’t want competition because basically the the intention and the content of the platforms are very similar in principle. I personally do not like the way the DNC operates and I do not give ever any money to those national organizations. When I donate money, it goes directly to a candidate. I don’t even go through act blue anymore so I’d like to see and it’s critical this election year that we get gotv strongly out there because we must get Democrats and unaffiliated people to vote conquer these die hard, no mines spineless boneless Republicans that are in Congress. We’ve got to get rid of them. I have run for Congress twice. Myself and I did get elected to the county Burke board of supervisors for soil and water conservation district. So and I’m a precinct chair for for now since 2012, except when I had to step down briefly in 2016 when I was working for the state. Send it again but I say very on top of the national international and state issues. So I’m looking forward to a better year in this election but and concerned about all the red flags that have been thrown up because of the Republican party doing everything they can to suppress the vote. And it’s already happened in that Kentucky Congressional race from what I’ve heard. But I just want to be sure. Especially like last year or state judicial supreme Court candidates who had to fight her way tooth and nail to retain her seed against the Republican who challenged her and forced all these absentee ballots in certain counties for to go through recounts and it was a horrendous ordeal. Progressives must keep messaging the progressive message every way possible. And it’s ironic that only 2% of the population is Jewish yet we have all the Jewish lobby controlling Congress in the in the US government. I have many friends I grew up with in New York with due or Jewish. All my my you know best friends and classmates both from where I lived in Middletown and people that live near me for the summer who came from Brooklyn. So I’m very well connected and then I went to California for my first teaching job and stayed probably Republican. I grew up in Republican family and Republicans up north were so much different and Progressive. But of course I grew up under the eyes an hour administration and then after leaving home and it was became very involved with my profession but it wasn’t until I came to North Carolina that I got very involved with North Carolina politics and I knew and I did made a big decision to run for the state Senate in 1990 after my term on the soil and water conservation board a supervisors.
